Kinetic Sculpture

A suspended wheel invites passersby to be turned, setting in motion a pendulum of aluminum tubes above. The hollow tubes begin to revolve, each containing a reed. As the tubes move faster through the air, the reeds begin to vibrate, setting off different musical tones. At night, piezo-electric crystals power LEDs as the pendulum revolves, creating a lighting effect reminiscent of flickering satellites or shooting stars.
