In 2008 Arquitectum, one of the leading architectural competitions in the world, hosted an open call to design a floating architectural gallery on the River Thames. In line with Al’s philosophy of sustainability, recycled wine barrels were designated as the core of the gallery as a transformational utility that reflects the surrounding architecture. Working in a collaborative effort with Orange Buensuceso and Kevin Young Lee, out of 347 entries, the submission earned an Honorable Mention by esteemed jury members including Brett Stelle and Sir Peter Cook.
