With the mandate to revitalize Cairo’s Opera Square and Azbakia Garden, Al, in collaboration with Tarek Abou-Zekry, created a unique solution. Housing the new Opera House within parkland containing artificial hills, it featured a clever network of roads, metro infrastructure and informal markets underneath the pedestrian friendly landscape to optimize the relationship between nature and urban architectural facilities.
